The BEng (Hons) Software Engineering top-up is delivered online by Western International College Online (WINC) with the final degree awarded by the University of Bolton. The programme has been designed collaboratively working with industrial partners to ensure that students study a comprehensive program of relevant industrial topics. Many graduates find successful careers in software engineering. The syllabus has an emphasis on real world experience which is informed by the latest research and global practices. Coursework throughout the course utilises realistic scenarios intended to prepare students for their career after university. This applies both to the technical areas studied, but also the output required from the student such as technical proposals or reports to management. A large amount of the coursework undertaken by students on this course is project based and involves group working. The ability to work successfully and productively in teams is an essential element of modern software engineering. It will enable students to develop skills such as advanced IT skills, analytical skills, communication, project management and organisation – all essential for the workplace. Regardless of the industry students intend to pursue careers in, the BEng (Hons) Software Engineering top-up degree will provide graduates with the necessary skills to succeed.
